New creative classes to help people living with dementia
Airdrie Town Hall will host weekly sessions in association with Scottish Opera and CultureNL

The Memory Spinners groups use music, storytelling, movement and the visual arts, to help people with dementia and their carers relax, get creative and form new support networks.

Deborah McArthur, Arts Development Officer with CultureNL, said:
"The sessions aim to encourage people to share stories that are then incorporated into a relaxed performance for friends and family.
"The Memory Spinner groups were created by Scottish Opera in 2010 and have already proven successful in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
"Now they are working in partnership with CultureNL to bring them to North Lanarkshire, where I'm sure they will not just be popular, but also provide a source of comfort and happiness to those taking part."

The classes will run at Airdrie Town Hall on Mondays from 1pm to 3pm for seven weeks, starting from Monday 29 January.
It will culminate in a final performance for friends and family on Friday 23 March.
