Visit from Finland Monday 31st October & Tuesday 1st November 2011

Lanarkshire has participated in a regional-level international mental health partnership between Lanarkshire (Scotland) and South Ostrobothnia (Finland) since October 2009, see attachment. Over the last six months this has expanded to include substance misuse led in Lanarkshire by Dr Gary Tanner and Ostrobothnia by Professor, Olli Kampman, Adjunct Professor, Department of Psychiatry,SchoolofMedicine,UniversityofTampere.

Professor Kampman will be visiting Lanarkshire with a delegation of eight psychiatry colleagues on Monday 31st October & Tuesday 1st November 2011.

The visit will bring together colleagues who are well respected and have vast amount of experience in the planning, delivery and associated research around both mental health and substance muses. A particular area of joint interest is around 'dual diagnosis'. The time spent exchanging ideas and forming professional relationships will translate into collaborations which will benefit both Lanarkshire and Ostrobothnian populations.
